Moriah sat up by herself without needing us to hold onto her!!! Even though it only lasted several minutes and she eventually fell over to the side, this was a BIG DEAL to us! Of course, I didn't have my camera at the time, but this was a picture taken right after, and Justin and I were overjoyed with the progress that Moriah has made from all of her therapies. After being sick and in bed for so long, Moriah's physical strength is extremely delayed, and she was only able to hold her head up on her own. But today we reached a new milestone, and she was able to sit by herself! All right!
(sorry, I know this may seem a little dramatic and some might not understand, but when you've worked so hard to get to a certain point, it sure does feel good when you get there! you go girl!)

(helping her sit up at this point; she was exhausted after we made her show off her new skill for every Nurse and Doctor in the CVICU, including Dr. Hanley =) )
And because Miss M has been doing so well, we went on our first wagon ride since November! This was also the first trip taken with the trach. Moriah had her trusty pal, Christine, accompany her. She doesn't go anywhere without her.

All her loving Nurses and Doctors came out to see her

Everyone rallying behind her. Go Moriah Go!

Covering her face with her hat as soon as she went into the sunlight

Examining a leaf

Daddy trying to stop her from eating it

Surrounded by proud parents and grandparents

Such a great day.
Home, here we come!

The first time Viv sat with the boppy behind her for probably all of 10 seconds, I was so excited that I literally couldn't sleep that night. It was better than any Christmas Eve ever! Wishing you an evening of happy, excited butterflies in your tummy in anticipation of Moriah's magnificent milestones and more sunshine on her sweet face.

Such an amazing journey. Thanks again for sharing your amazing moments with us. We continue to pray for your amazing Moriah and your wonderful family. God Bless!
Not dramatic at all and I totally DO understand! We have overly celebrated every one of our son's milestones because they all have come really late. He is 2.5-years-old and cannot walk, so when that day comes I am throwing a Walking Party!!! I'm sure most people will think I'm crazy, but I'll be dancing around and saying WOOOOHHOOOOO!!!
Go MORIAH! I'm so proud of you! Keep up the good work, little one! We pray hard for you every day. xo
Yes Yes Yes! We understand. I remember that milestone, I remember that first walk in the garden in the radio flyer. It's absolutely beautiful. I congratulate you all, I congratulate Moriah on her extraordinary perserverance and she comes back smiling. Just absolutely fantastic!!!
PS I absolutely love that Kings of Leon song... must add. Cx
I have never posted a comment before but I read your blog every day in hopes of a new update on your little beauty. I am so excited to see the progress she is making. I have twins about the same age as Moriah and I remember the day the first sat on their own. I can only imagine how much more gratifying that is when you have been through what your family has. COngratulations and I am so excited for the awesome milestone made by your corageous baby girl!!
That is so wonderful. We are so happy for you guys!!!
Holding herself up is a BIG deal! I know...I sound as crazy as you "think" you sound...I don't think that Isaac sat up by himself until he was a little over one also. and we started crawling at age 2...wait until then...you're going to cry so hard...
I'm so excited for you guys!!!
and...nurse Christine. You MUSt be loved at Stanford...she's only reserved for the most special of babies!
Keep taking those wagon rides...she's got things to see!!
What an exciting day!!! Keep up the wonderful work Moriah!!
Hugs,
Crystal and Eva

That is AMAZING news for you! Congratulations Miss M! What a huge accomplishment. To those of us with children with delays, we understand when they reach a milestone like that. I am smiling from ear to ear with you guys. :)

I am just thrilled for you guys - Moriah was just so excited to celebrate CANADA DAY that she sat up on Canada's birthday. Tell her all her friends up here north of the border are VERY proud of her!
WooHoo! What a day you had yesterday! It brought tears to my eyes just seeing her in that adorable little dress/hat in the wagon being wheeled outside. Did she just love it? Moriah has quite the fan club. You might have a "hard" time taking her home when it is time. The staff will not want her to go!
Praise God for bringing Moriah so far in the past few months. I pray that the "H" word gets mentioned in the near future!
Blessings,
Janet

This was such a treat to read tonight. Congrats to Miss Moriah!! This is very very exciting news that she sat up on her own. So glad too that she could cruise the halls and outside too in the wagon. What a special day and time for everyone. Love the pictures. Thanks for sharing it all with us. Continue to have more days and times like this.
I am to the moon and back thrilled for you! This is INDEED a huge milestone! I remember the first time Max did it and I felt like we had conquered the world!
Congratulations to ALL of you...and especially beautiful Miss Moriah for being so absolutely amazing AND adorable! (Love all her cute outfits by the way!)
We are very, very, very, very, very excited for you! This is just one of many wonderful, thrilling milestones to come...she is one incredible lil' spirited girl!
WOOHOO! Thanks for sharing, you made my day. Moriah looks AWESOME. WAY TOO GO MORIAH! We've just had to make the trach decision for Danny, I believe it will be done next week after our care conference with his specialists. It wasn't the easiest but I know it is the right path for Danny. I've learned so much following your story thanks again for allowing us to follow.
