About Me

My Photo
We are high school sweethearts who grew up in Southern California. We both graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder (yes, we know we look like we're 12 years old =) ), and got married going into our senior year of college on May 29, 2005. On January 23rd, 2008, we received our gift, Moriah Sarjit Nelson. Moriah was born with a complex Congenital Heart Defect and CHARGE syndrome. She is our first child, and continues to be the greatest blessing we have received. This website is dedicated to her, and the journey she continues to travel (more details below in Our Story).

Moriah was in the hospital for 1 year between LPCH and CHLA. During this time, she had two open-heart surgeries (one of them being a 12.5 hour full repair of her heart - yes!), a diaphragmatic plication, survived severe septic shock, and received a tracheostomy at 15 months old. She battled fevers and infections, most of unknown origin for 8 months, and they finally diagnosed her as having an undefined immune deficiency. After an acute bleeding incident from her trach, Moriah was life-flighted back to LPCH from CHLA, and our family made the decision to move to Northern California. Moriah finally got out of the ICU and began her rehabilitation at the Children's Recovery Center. After another year of rehab, our baby girl finally came home. We have a fabulous team of Nurses and Doctors who help make it possible for us to be home with Moriah on a ventilator. We ask that you continue to keep our sweet girl in your prayers as we continue on this journey. Thank you for all the love and support. Love, Justin and Victoria

Jadon was born July 1, 2011. He is such a sweetheart, and we can't wait to see him and Moriah grow up together.

Christmas 2011

We had some pre-Christmas visitors with Papa (holding a sleeping Jadon)

and Pastor Jason and beautiful, pregnant Laura!

And then there was Christmas morning! Moriah and Jadon were obviously soooo excited.
Not.

We had a great Christmas breakfast, compliments of Maji and Nano

And then we took our Christmas pictures. Here is Moriah getting a shot to Jadon's face. That girl is too quick for us. Luckily, Jadon is tough and didn't even cry.

Daddy signing "no" to her...and Jadon looking like he got into a brawl. Sigh.

Once we got past the hitting of faces and pulling of vent tubes (yep, Jadon is doing that to Moriah), I finally got a good shot of them.
I seriously love these kids. It was Jadon's 1st Christmas and Moriah's 2nd Christmas at home.
I was cherishing every moment.

Our family picture

And of course a shot with these incredible grandparents. It was also Maji's first Christmas at our home. Maji skipped out on her annual trip to see her mom in Malaysia to be with us. Thanks Mom. I'm so happy you were with us!

Hurricane Jadoriah swept through our living room

Moriah playing with her walker that Nano and Maji gave her!

We had a delicious Christmas dinner that Maji whipped up

And we pretty much spent the whole day just hanging out with one another. Seriously, it was my most favorite Christmas ever.

I'm thanking God for everything...especially for the gift of His Son.

"Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows."
James 1:17
